My teaching style breaks down complex concepts into simple, bite-sized portions so that students can build strong foundations that they can draw upon to address any problem, regardless of difficulty. Through this, I help students become flexible and develop critical thinking skills, preparing them for exam success.

Ms Suh

Chemistry Teacher

ATAR 99.80
2nd in Chemistry at Meriden School (2022)
95 in Chemistry (2022)

I seek to help students develop a strong foundation by deconstructing concepts in a logical manner which sparks their intuition and curiosity. Then I aim to build upon this foundation with extra intricate detail and a wide variety of practice questions. In doing so, I help students gain a complex understanding for confident application of their skills and knowledge in any exam situation.

Mr Sun

I strive to reframe complex ideas and concepts, viewing them from a new perspective to ultimately help students understand these ideas intuitively whilst also developing their critical think-ing skills. To me, science is not simply the memorisation of knowledge, but the application and exposure to new ideas which deepen our understanding of the wider world around us.

Success in HSC science depends on how well you can apply your skills in unfamiliar situations, rather than superficial memorisation. My teaching style aims to foster a natural passion for science and an intuitive understanding of key scientific concepts, so that students are primed to tackle any question they are presented with.

Learning is similar to gaming. If a game is too hard, it is easy to give up. If a game is too easy, you can become bored. I take my students from the start to finish, level by level, making sure they remain engaged with their learning as they master syllabus content.

Ms Jin

Chemistry Teacher
Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine at UNSW
ATAR 99.90
99 in Chemistry - State Rank 5th in NSW (2021)
97 in Physics

I aim to build an integrated and structured understanding of the fundamental scientific concepts. I hope to do this by stimulating your curiosity and extending upon it with logical thinking to prepare for the increasingly challenging style of HSC questions.

Ms Lu

Chemistry Teacher
Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine at UNSW

ATAR 99.85

Australian Science Olympiads Chemistry Scholar

I aim to adapt to my students’ learning styles and be flexible in my teaching approach. It is essential to recognise when students are struggling and be willing to change lesson plans to suit the individual students in the classroom. I like to encourage students to attempt questions as they learn new concepts so they can instantly see how the knowledge they gain is applied in exam-style situations.

Mr Yin

As HSC examinations shift toward assessing students’ abilities to apply existing knowledge to new scenarios, it has become increasingly important to holistically understand course content and effectively communicate learning outcomes. My teaching style aims to contextualise new and existing information so that students can make cross-module links and extrapolate their understanding of key syllabus concepts to diverse exam content.

Mr Cawse

Increasingly, HSC Chemistry is applying and extending syllabus concepts, shifting away from rote-learned answers. My approach focusses on logically explaining fundamentals which, with apt inclusion of additional questions and relevant extension material, provides students both the foundation and impetus to develop their own complex understanding of the course.

Success in chemistry is like learning to ride a bike, strong fundamental knowledge of concepts, guided by teaching tailored to students’ needs in order to an in-depth, unforgettable understanding of the syllabus. I aim to provide this guidance while also being able to help students understand the nuances answering questions in order to achieve their best results.

Mr Kim

My teaching style is that I prioritise the fundamental principles and key ideas, which allows students to move beyond rote learning and cultivate a deep conceptual understanding in Chemistry. This is complemented by a diverse set of exam style questions and supplementary materials, empowering students to build confidence in applying their skills effectively during examinations. I also believe that gaining knowledge is only half of the answer to attaining success in exams, with the other half being efficient study techniques, which I ensure to teach to my students.
